My quilt this week
-- Off The Wall (#35.09)
-- started out as a piece of fabric that I printed a few weeks ago, and then it sat in my to-be-discharged pile awaiting further orders. But I was inspired by something I saw recently that I wanted to create on fabric, and it turned out this formerly unsuccessful sample was the perfect background. Variegated thread, Shiva Paintstix and flat-backed metallic beads finished it off. The piece reminds me of a slab of granite or marble.

And speaking of marble, my mother used to make the most wonderful marble cake -- one of my sadly few good memories of her. And that's enough of that!
