Art Reading List

Yesterday a friend asked me about art books I use for inspiration and guidance, so I thought I'd post the list of what I currently refer to in my work. The order they're listed in is the order in which they're sitting in the stack by my left elbow.
  • Living The Creative Life Ideas & Inspiration From Working Artists, by Rice Freeman-Zachery
  • Handpainting Fabric Easy, Elegant Techniques, by Michelle Newman & Margaret Allyson
  • Shibori Creating Color & Texture on Silk, by Karren Brito
  • Shibori The Inventive Art of Japanese Shaped Resist Dyeing, by Yoshiko Iwamoto Wada, Mary Kellogg Rice & Jane Barton
  • The Painted Quilt Paint & Print Techniques for Colour on Quilts, by Linda & Laura Kemshall
  • Breakdown Printing New Dimensions for Texture & Colour, by Claire Benn & Leslie Morgan
  • Finding Your Own Visual Language A Practical Guide to Design Composition, by Jane Dunnewold, Claire Benn & Leslie Morgan
  • Mixed-Media Self-Portraits Inspiration & Techniques, by Cate Coulascos Prato
  • Mixed-Media Nature Journals New Techniques for Exploring Nature, Life and Memories, by L.K. Ludwig
  • Create Your Own Hand-Printed Cloth Stamp, Screen & Stencil with Everyday Objects, by Rayna Gillman
  • Complex Cloth A Comprehensive Guide to Surface Design, by Jane Dunnewold
  • The Surface Designer's Handbook Dyeing, Printing, Painting and Creating Resists on Fabric, by Holly Brackman

I also try to absorb as much as possible from the Surface Design Journal and Fiberarts Magazine, and other artists' blogs. So happy reading!

I had an idea last night for something I haven't seen anywhere, so I'll post photos later when I'm finished experimenting!
